Scaling & Root Planing
If you’re experiencing symptoms of periodontal or gum disease, we can help. One of our expert dentists will perform a deep-cleaning procedure called scaling and root planing, which involves cleaning out the pockets of tissue that form when diseased gums detach from the roots of your teeth, as well as removing plaque that has built up on those roots. This procedure typically needs to be performed regularly to treat gum disease and prevent it from getting worse.
Gum Grafting
If you have lost gum tissue, we can perform a gum graft to help replace it. This takes tissue from another area of your mouth and uses it to cover over the roots of teeth that have been exposed by gum loss. Doing so helps protect your teeth and prevent additional damage.
Pocket Reduction
When gum disease reaches a more advanced stage, we can perform a pocket reduction procedure to help. Pocket reduction is a more complex variation on the standard scaling and root planing procedure, and can be used to thoroughly clean out infected gum pockets that form over time.
Crown Lengthening
If you need a crown, we may also need to perform crown lengthening in order to expose enough existing tooth structure to provide a firm base of support for the new crown. This is a straightforward procedure that will help make sure your crown placement is a success.
Laser Treatment for Soft Tissues
While many gum treatment procedures typically required a metal scalpel, we now do many of our treatments using lasers. Laser surgeries are safer, quicker, and more effective — leading to less discomfort and a reduced risk of infection, as lasers instantly cauterize any open cuts.
